[Job Posting] The University of Winnipeg: Term Assistant Professor, East Asian Religions and Cultures

The Department of Religion and Culture at The University of Winnipeg invites applications for a one-year term position in East Asian Religions and Cultures at the Assistant Professor rank, commencing August 1, 2021, subject to final budgetary approval.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in a related field. While the area of specialization is open to any aspect, geographical area, or historical period of East Asian religions, we especially welcome candidates with an expertise in Indigenous traditions, Korea, and/or Southeast Asia. We seek candidates with broad backgrounds and interests who are able to teach a wide range of courses on East Asian religions in their cultural contexts. The successful candidate will teach courses such as Women in Asian Religions, Buddhist Traditions in East Asia, and Modern Asian Religions.

The position is a pivotal point of intersection between Religion and Culture and the Department’s East Asian Languages and Cultures program—most courses are cross-listed and the successful candidate will support both degree-granting programs.

The successful candidate will also share in the administrative responsibilities of the Department.

The Department of Religion and Culture at the University of Winnipeg offers a 3-Year BA, a 4-Year BA, and a BA Honour’s degree. The Department also participates in a Joint Master’s Program in Religion with the University of Manitoba.
